Our Privacy Commitment

BrowserBar is designed with privacy as its foundation. We believe your browsing activity and preferences are personal, and we've built BrowserBar to ensure they stay private.

In simple terms: We don't collect, store, transmit, or analyze any of your browsing history, personal data, settings, or usage patterns.

What We Don't Do

No Browsing History

We don't collect, store, or transmit any browsing history, URLs visited, or web content you view.

No Analytics or Tracking

We don't use any analytics services, tracking pixels, or telemetry to monitor how you use BrowserBar.

No Personal Information

We never collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, or any personally identifiable information.

No Third-Party Services

Zero third-party analytics, advertising networks, or data collection services are integrated.

What Data Stays Local

BrowserBar stores the following information locally on your Mac to provide its functionality:

Browser Preferences

Your chosen viewport sizes, window position, size preferences, and display mode settings.

Bookmarks and Favorites

Any bookmarks or favorite viewport presets you've saved (stored locally only).

Interface Settings

Menu bar preferences, window behavior, and other interface customizations.

Purchase Status

Whether you have the Pro version, validated securely through Apple's StoreKit framework.

Web Content

Standard browser cache, cookies, and local storage managed by macOS WebKit. Never transmitted to us.

Important:

All this data is stored exclusively in macOS UserDefaults and WebKit storage on your local machine. It never leaves your device and cannot be accessed by us or any third parties.

In-App Purchases & StoreKit

BrowserBar uses Apple's StoreKit framework for Pro upgrade purchases:

Purchase Verification

How it works: Apple's StoreKit handles all payment processing and provides encrypted receipts to verify purchases.

What BrowserBar does: We only verify the receipt locally on your device to unlock Pro features.

What's NOT sent: No payment information, personal details, or purchase data is transmitted to our servers.

Family Sharing Support

BrowserBar supports Apple's Family Sharing, allowing family members to access Pro features.

Privacy protection: Family Sharing verification is handled entirely by Apple's systems, not by BrowserBar.

Apple's Responsibility:

All payment processing, receipt management, and customer data is handled by Apple according to their privacy policy. BrowserBar never sees your payment information.

Web Content & Browsing Privacy

BrowserBar uses macOS's native WebKit framework for rendering web content:

No Browsing Data Collection

BrowserBar doesn't log, analyze, or transmit any URLs you visit, search queries, or web content you view.

Local Cache Only

Web cache, cookies, and local storage are managed by WebKit and stored locally on your Mac.

Website Permissions

Any permissions requested by websites (location, notifications, etc.) are standard WebKit prompts. We don't access this data.

Screenshot Privacy

Screenshots taken within BrowserBar are saved to your local Downloads folder. We never access or upload these images.
